About Our Pastor

 

Reverend Antonio Marquez Alfred, Pastor
 

Reverend Antonio Marquez  Alfred is a native of Ville Platte, Louisiana.  After graduating from Ville Platte High School, he joined the United States Marine Corps and later moved to California in 1985. 

 

He obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems at California State University in Los Angeles and a Master of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems from the University of Phoenix.  In 1989, he began working full time for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California.

Reverend Alfred began his ministry in the area of youth counseling at the Second Baptist Church in Monrovia, California in 1995.  While there, he served as a Co-Director of the Youth Action Bible Fellowship, Course Instructor of the Computer Ministry, Youth Counselor of the Youth Church, Sunday School Teacher of the Children’s Church, Tape Ministry Worker, and Associate-Clergy-Lyceum.  He also counseled single adults and married couples.

 

In 2000, under Dr. Tyree Toliver, he joined St. John Missionary Baptist Church as an Associate Minister and became Director of the Biblical Counseling Ministry.  Following the home going of Dr. Toliver, Rev. Alfred retired from NASA as Program Manager after 19 years and became Pastor of the St. John Missionary Baptist Church in 2008.

Reverend Alfred is a graduate of Trinity College and Theological Seminary in Newburgh, Indiana, with a Masters of Arts Degree in Biblical Counseling.  He is also currently pursuing a PhD in Theology.  He is a member of the International Association of Biblical Counselors (IABC), the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors (NANC), and he is devoted to providing quality, Christ focused, and Bible directed counseling to the body of Christ.

 

Reverend Alfred has been happily married to Shanderlynn Alfred for more than 14 years and has been blessed with four lovely children – Alexis, Apollos, Anaiah, and Andrew.
